Connectivity and supported Apps

All models from the VSX-529 and up are DLNA certified (v1.5) to work as a Digital Media Player and Digital Media Renderer. DLNA allows you to stream audio wirelessly to your AV receiver from the music library stored on your PC, Mac or other media server.

AirPlay is supported on all models, starting from the VSX-529. AirPlay gives you access to your iTunes music library and other compatible music streaming services, such as Rdio* and Grooveshark*. AirPlay lets you stream audio to and from your AV receiver over your home network.

The VSX-529* and up support Bluetooth Wireless Technology for easy music streaming. The Sound Retriever AIR function will improve the sound quality of your wireless audio, reducing any noise caused by Bluetooth transmission.

*Optional AS-BT200 Bluetooth adapter is required for the VSX-529.

Each of our new AV receivers supports 4K@50/60 based on the HDMI 2.0 standard. It allows a flawless transmission of 4K video signals, up to 60p.

All receivers are compatible with Windows 8.1*, letting you easily stream music, videos, and photos from compatible PCs and laptops on your home network.

For your convenience we have developed the iControlAV5 app, which allows you to easily control all important AV receiver functions directly from your smartphone or tablet.

New features include the AV Scaler, which simply lets you select the input and output signals by drawing a line with your finger. The Status Viewer provides a graphical display of input/output and status of the playing content, as well as an image of both real and virtual speakers. The Cursor provides control using a 4-way keypad with surrounding buttons. Now you can control functions that up until now were only controllable using a remote.

The iControlAV5 app is freely available in the App Store and Google Play.

AVNavigator implemented in the receiver can be easily used by web browser of smartphones, tablets, PCs and Mac on the network. It provides a variety of functions, such as Wiring Navi with a guide for connecting the unit and setting up from web browser and an Interactive Operation Guide describes the receiver's operations and how to use several functions through videos and illustrations.

Pioneer’s AVNavigator will help you set up your home cinema system straight out of the box. After the setup, the interactive menu lets you intuitively explore every feature. In addition, you can browse and save MCACC measurement data, and also download the instruction manual on your iPad.
